Very happy with this product!
This is my 3rd Lowrance product over the past 10 years.

When used with the Lowrance Mapcreate 6 or 7 topo maps (which you upload to a SD card that fits in the unit), sold separately and highly recommended, this is a very powerful and very easy to use GPS. The detail of the Mapcreate topos is excellent. All the Lowrance products are menu driven with a Windows-like interface.

I tried the color version, the H20C, but found that it sucks down the battery power too fast compared to the monochrome unit, so I sent it back. I use mine with rechargeable batteries and get many, many hours of use.

The receiver is highly accurate after the first power-on. Generally, accuracy is within 10 meters or less.

My only complaint is that the SD card is located under the batteries, which is a pain.

Buy it with confidence.

Lowrance iFinder H2O
This is my first GPS. Being a beginner, I decided to start in Easy Mode. I was unable to set my "Home" waypoint. Assuming that I was doing something wrong, I spent a considerable time trying to make sure I was following instructions. I eventually went to the Lowrance website, found the problem and solution, downloaded the new software for the device then loaded it on the GPS. Suggest step 1 for this device after installing batteries and starting it up should be to check the device for the latest software. Aside from this issue, I would have rated the iFinder 5 stars.

The GPS is accurate and fairly intuitive to use. Built-in maps have limited detail, as I expected. There is less information on highways and roads than I expected and it really is too little to be very useful. The marine information has more detail than I expected and very useable for my needs. (The map had all the markers for the Intracoastal waterway in a fairly small area I checked.) I plan to purchase either the mapping software or cards that provide more detail.

Bottom line is that I love my new GPS and wanted to give a heads up to others to check the software.

Nice unit with great display
I used to have a Magellan Sportrak. It burned through batteries like a kid's toy while providing occasional false readings and claiming not get enough signal some 25% of the time (despite clear skies and no obstructions.) Finally I had enough and bought this one. Very happy I did!

The product description above is pretty accurate in terms of features, and I can personally testify to the water proof factor (dropped it in a stream, worked like a charm when I fished it out.) What especially makes it superior to the Magellan, which cost roughly the same, is the display. In fairness, I bought the Magellan over a year ago so it's probably a bit different now, but a side-by-side comparison is striking.

If you're serious about the outdoors, make sure to get the software package. It's a little cumbersome to work with the card in transferring data, but hey, it beats the Magellan by a mile. Bottom line: this is a damn fine unit for the price.

Great GPS Unit
This is my fifth GPS unit. My first GPS unit was a Lowrance GM100 followed by a Garmin and a Magellan Sportrak and then a Lowrance Go2. All have been good units. I was very inpressed when I first received the Lowrance H20 unit. I was impressed by the screen size first and foremost. Second, I was pleasantly suprised to find the car power adapter. Shortly after purchasing the unit, I bought the software package. It includes the map software, a 64mb SD card and the card reader. I'm very happy with the set, but I would have preferred a direct cable connection to the unit as opposed to having to use the card reader to transfer data. The software is also somewhat limited in features as well. I would like to see more features involving trails. The maps are great and very accurate. Transferring data works great but is somewhat difficult in that you must remove the card which requires removal of the batteries. I would give the unit five stars if it weren't for the above limitations. If you just look at the unit itself based on accuracy and useability, it definitely ranks five stars.
